Alcatraz (ACVS-13) is a refitted Justice-class starcarrier, owned by the Allegiant Combat Enterprises corporation, which serves as Anvil Squadron's mobile base of operations.
The Justice-class is one of the smaller designs of spaceborne aviation carriers, with its primary function being to patrol a given sector of space without the need to travel too far beyond its borders. It features a semi-covered flight deck with two linear catapults that runs the length of the bow, leading into a spacious hangar that can house and service a full squadron of 12 to 24 craft.
The spaceframe has a minimum projected design life of fifty years, assuming two major shipwide system overhauls and upgrades at average intervals of twenty years. Minor refurbishment and upgrades may occur at one- to five-year intervals, depending on specific mission requirements and hardware availability.
The third vessel of her class to be constructed, CSDFS Armistice began life in Fleet service with the Core Systems Defense Force. After decommissioning, she was demilitarized – her engines, weapons, sensors, and all other classified systems stripped out – and the remaining hulk auctioned off as scrap. She was purchased by Allegiant Combat Enterprises, who subsequently spent five years and billions of credits restoring her to spaceworthy condition. She was renamed Alcatraz in order to serve as a secure housing and transport facility for their newly-assembled penal squadron.
