The Skies of Vrukar

This campaign is still a work-in-progress!

It still needs to be playtested and the stats balanced before it can be considered finalized.

The story and events depicted in this campaign are fiction. Any resemblance to actual political states, geographic locations, persons, living or dead, corporations and organizations is entirely coincidental.

Captain Clayton Harroway

Hrasnitova, Malaras Sector

“The history of Oruznya could be summed up in one phrase: 'And then, things got worse.' At the turn of the last century, a violent revolution overthrew the decadent monarchy, executing the royal family and establishing a republic – albeit a tenuous and unstable one. Not long after that, the Oruznyan Civil War broke out which saw the nationalists deposed by a military-backed coup. They fled to form a government in exile in what is now the modern-day republic of Vrukar, and needless to say, relations between the two neighbors have remained frosty with neither side acknowledging the legitimacy of the other.

Thirty years ago, the current First Minister of Oruznya was elected to office, and simply never left. Since then, he's done everything he can to loot the nation's coffers, suppress the opposition, and consolidate power under himself – only stopping short of crowning himself king.

But it's plain to see that the nation's glory days are far behind them. Their economy is stagnant, their sphere of influence is shrinking, and their population is aging with a rapidly declining birth rate. So, it shouldn't have come as a surprise that they decided to launch a 'reunification' invasion of Vrukar in one last desperate bid for relevance. Hrasnitova's Assembly of Nations has almost unilaterally condemned this aggression and imposed economic sanctions on Oruznya, but can't get directly involved without the risk of dragging the entire world into an all-out war. That's where you come in.

Anvil Squadron has been hired to provide tactical air support for the Vrukarin armed forces, since their air power is vastly outdated and handily outclassed. But if you can close the sky over Vrukar, you'd give their ground troops some breathing room to operate and expel the Oruznyan invaders.”

Act I

Begin the campaign by playing this mission:

Act II

Play the following missions in any order. Each success increases Morale by 1 (which counts towards a credit bonus at the end of the campaign) while failure decreases Morale by 1. If it reaches -3 Morale, the campaign is lost. Otherwise, proceed to Act III.

Act III

In the Final Act of the campaign, fly one last mission to tie up loose ends and determine the outcome of the campaign.

Atmospheric Conditions

Since this campaign takes place entirely within a planet's atmosphere, the terrain pieces from the starter box don't make a lot of sense thematically. Either treat the terrain tiles as conforming to the following descriptions, or download and print the custom tiles available on the Downloads page:

Note: Asteroid terrain tiles are not used in this campaign.

  • Storm Cloud – Replaces Ice Cloud and Debris Cloud.
  • Jet Stream – Replaces Tycho's Rift.
