Pirates of the Hydaeleon Rift

This campaign is still a work-in-progress!

It still needs to be playtested and the stats balanced before it can be considered finalized.

The story and events depicted in this campaign are fiction. Any resemblance to actual political states, geographic locations, persons, living or dead, corporations and organizations is entirely coincidental.

Captain Clayton Harroway

Corilano, Judicus Sector

“The outlying colony of Corilano has been reporting increasing instances of raids by pirates over the past couple months, and a number of merchant vessels in the area have also been hit during the same time frame. The colonists are starting to worry that these incidents will make merchants think twice about coming out this way, which would be disastrous given Corilano's remoteness from any major trade hubs. But authorities have thus far been slow to respond, so the colonists decided to take matters into their own hands. They've banded together to hire Anvil Squadron, with the expectation that you will put an end to these raids by any means necessary.

Our best guess is that the pirates are coming from LV-826, a wildcat colony of anti-establishment survivalist types that settled on an unapproved world in order to skirt colonial regulations, but who soon found out the hard way that the world was unapproved for a reason. Last anyone heard from them was over fifty years ago, not long after they refused to accept the “handout” of resettlement. They came out one last time, demanding prefab structures, water vaporators, and air purifiers. Guess it never occurred to them that deliberately settling outside the law's jurisdiction means the law has no duty to protect them either.

In any case, LV-826 lies somewhere inside the Hydaeleon Rift, a particularly volatile and unstable region of space. We can expect a lot of radiation and electromagnetic interference once inside, which will effectively cut us off from the galaxy at large. But the colonists are counting on us, and remember, dead clients don't pay.”
